One Week From Today!

We said goodbye to graduating seniors last week!  I was thinking back and looking at their earliest films a lot of which were done during the summer film workshops.  Many of these folks have been working in the room for ten years.  It gets me very excited for the next group of filmmakers in the room!

1 Week!

The Summer Video Production Film class starts one week from today!

I hope you all are as excited as we are to start this.

Tomorrow I will have an email sent to all families and will try to get emails for all students and send an email for them too.

The basic plan for almost all of you is to make a film from start to finish over one week.

The whole class is two weeks from June 2-13th.

If you are doing the whole class, your first film will be done June 6th, and then you will make a second done June 13th.

Why is this worth talking about now?

Because if you are doing only one of the two weeks, you will get a complete experience and have a film done at the end, and if you are doing the whole two-week workshop, you can make deals with yourself now.

I want you thinking now what kinds of stories you want to tell?

Spooky, fun, silly, action, animated, magical?

I want you thinking this week about what you want to make.

When we meet on Monday, we will share ideas to prompts I give.

So, if I give the prompt, The Magic Headphones.

Think about what The Magic Headphones can mean for a scary horror movie.

Or for an action film.

Or a beautiful story of friendship.

Or a science fiction story.

See what I mean?

Start thinking about what kinds of films you want to make.

Getting in groups based on what kind of film each of us wants to make will allow us to get started.

Everyone is very excited!  The For Credit class for Rising 9th to 12th graders is two weeks Mon-Friday 9am-3pm in the MPAC June 2-June 13.  The For Credit class gets the student an Upper School Greenhill Arts credit and grade!  Rising 7th to 12th graders can also elect to take the same class as enrichment June 2-6 and/or June 9-13.

If you have any questions please email Mr. Doyle at doylec@greenhill.org.

Students from outside Greenhill, Dallas, and Texas can come take the class.  It's part of what makes these two weeks so special.  More information will come when we get closer to the workshops.
